I have worked in the GB and European power sector since 1988, mainly in consultancy at Caminus, Poyry and Baringa. In the dim and distant past, I also worked for ICI, British Coal and East Midlands Electricity. I have degrees from Cambridge University and London School of Economics.
Since 2004, much of my work has been analysis of low carbon generation options, from offshore wind in the Western Isles to onshore wind in Germany, from solar PV in England to storage hydro in Albania. I have assessed several HVDC interconnector projects from the perspective of their potential to reduce carbon emissions as well as generation costs.
These days, I am on the board of a local community energy scheme and trying my hand at writing.
